Adobe has updated a number of products from its Creative Suite 5. Adobe Photoshop CS5 12.0.2 is a bug-fixing update which resolves a number of crashes, performance issues and even security vulnerabilities.
Adobe Photoshop CS5 12.0.2 is the second patch to the most recent release of the popular photo editing and manipulation software. It’s a minor, bug-fixing release and should be a safe update.
The most significant fixes in the Photoshop 12.0.2 update include the following:
— A number of potential security vulnerabilities have been addressed
— Top type and font crashers found in the field have been addressed
— A number of performance issues have been addressed
— Crash opening 3D layers has been addressed
— Color Engine crash has been resolved
— Intermittent file format issues addressed
— Shift scrolling bug fixed
— Sharpen crasher fixed
— Marching ants not seen at certain zoom levels fixed
— Metadata focus distance issue addressed
— File info bug addressed for Orphea Studio jpg files
— TWAIN crashers fixed
— Brush cursor bug fixed
— Histogram progress bar issue fixed
— Droplet issues addressed
System Requirements:
— One of the following language versions of Photoshop CS5: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Korean, Japanese, Czech, Polish, Russian, Turkish, Hungarian, Ukrainian, or Romanian.
— Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 3 or Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 2, Windows 7 (certified for 32-bit Windows XP and 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Vista or Windows 7)
Installation Instruction:
After downloading a “.zip” file, use the operating system or a utility such as WinZip or PKZIP to access the file’s contents.

To install the Photoshop 12.0.2 update:
1. Disable all virus protection software.
2. Ensure that the folder on your hard drive containing Photoshop is named “Adobe Photoshop CS5.”
3. Double-click the “Adobe Photoshop Updater” application. If the updater reports that it cannot find the application to update, uninstall Photoshop CS5, reinstall the application (using the default folder name “Adobe Photoshop CS5”), and then run the updater.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions.
